This Waterfront Lake Tahoe Resort Has The Best Instagramable Sunsets

Looking for Instagramable places around Lake Tahoe? Well, I found one for you! This waterfront Lake Tahoe resort has the BEST Instagramable sunsets on the lake. The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort snugs right up to the North side of the lake, which leads to magical pink, orange and purple sunsets over the water on the regular. Hello, colorful Instagram feed! #allofthelikes

While on our two-week-long hunt for fall foliage around Northern California, we ended the long road trip at the Hyatt in Lake Tahoe. It’s a sprawling resort that does it all right. A beach with a dock and killer sunsets, a fantastic restaurant, nightly firepits with smores, a pool, multiple hot tubs, a casino, a spa… in the summer you can take a cruise or go kayaking. Oh, and on top of this all, the fall colors in Lake Tahoe were ~popping~!

The weather during our stay was that perfect fall crisp air that I miss from growing up in Wisconsin. It made me reach for all the pretty fall dresses, boots and scarves! (Like this adorable orange dress from Modcloth!) Pretty much all that was missing was a PSL to complete the perfect fall vacation at Lake Tahoe.

The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort Casino & Spa (offta that’s a mouthful, right?) is one of those special hotels that has something for everyone. It’s hard to get bored while staying here, even if you don’t come up to hit the slopes. You could easily spend a whole weekend enjoying some of the best parts of Tahoe without actually leaving the hotel. I’m serious! Keep reading to learn how.

After a long trip running around the mountains (went to June Lake and Greenhorn Ranch) both Robin and I really needed some time to just relax. We spent a lot of mornings and afternoon on the dock reading, something I hardly ever get to do anymore. With the sun hitting your face, the docks (or chairs on the beach) at the Hyatt make a pleasant way to pass the day. In these photos, I’m wearing a new dress from ModCloth. The boots are also from Modcloth and just scream “give me fall leaves and all the pumpkins please!” The scarf is one I found on Thredup after I fell in love with the dog print. I enjoy dressing up when traveling, especially to nice to hotels like the Hyatt Lake Tahoe. (Read more about why I love wearing dresses while traveling in this post!)

Most guests fall into a pattern of waking up, grabbing a morning coffee at Tahoe Provisions and walking out to the lake. In the summer, there are plenty of beach chairs to lounge on, in the colder months you’ll find brown lawn chairs that make the perfect place to camp out. After the morning walk, breakfast at the Sierra Cafe. There’s a buffet breakfast available, along with regular menu items. I recommend the Carson City Burrito or the Pig In a Biscuit (the latter is what Robin ordered and I tried to steal so many bites!)

We stayed in one of the cabins near the lake. Our deck was next to a big ‘ole tree turning a beautiful shade of red, which made morning coffee and evening bubbly extra special. The cabins are spacious and come equipped with a fireplace and cozy library decor, along with a tiny kitchen, two bathrooms and a big bedroom. After living out of hotel rooms for a few weeks, it was nice to have space to spread out! The rooms are great, too, but the cabins are a great choice if you want more room and luxury. Or if you plan on spending a lot of time on the beach, as they’re right there on the water!

Nothing more relaxing than a craft cocktail, a fire, live music and the most Instagramable sunset on the lake.

The crown jewel of the Hyatt is the food, especially the Lone Eagle Grill, a restaurant right on the waterfront. We had lunch here one day and boy, was that the best lunch I’ve had in a long time! We shared a kale salad and steamed mussels starter, which came with a tasty broth and bread form a local bakery. Robin ordered the Brandt beef burger and I got the short rib grilled cheese which is not your mamma’s grilled cheese, that’s for sure! It was like grilled cheese on steroids – elevated in the best way possible. For dessert, we shared their famous Tahoe Bake which tasted fantastic but worth a shot for Instagram, too. We stopped by the Lone Eagle Grill for happy hour drinks one night as well. There’s a firepit outside with the backdrop of Lake Tahoe. Nothing more relaxing than a craft cocktail, a fire, live music and the most Instagramable sunset on the lake.

On the note of firepits, there are multiple firepits on the property available. Pick up a s’mores kit from the Tahoe Provisions store and make yourself some s’mores one evening! The Hyatt is on the Nevada side of the lake, so you’re free to bring down a bottle of wine and enjoy a glass near the fire, too.

Here’s a list of all the amenities at the Hyatt:

  • 422 guestrooms, including private lakeside cottages
  • Pet-friendly Lake Tahoe hotel
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Sports shop including ski rentals, lift tickets, tee times and more
