Sigma Beauty Review: 13 Holy-Grail Sigma Brushes & Makeup To Invest In

  • Kara

Back in college, I was getting ready for a party with friends. You know what it’s like: you all pile into a small bathroom and blast music as you put on makeup. A friend of mine saw me pull out an old flat shader brush in an attempt to blend my smokey eye. She practically grabbed it out of my hand. “This isn’t going to work, Kara!”

Being the beauty novice I was back then, I didn’t realize that makeup brushes matter. Like, a lot. So much that the right brush will make or break your whole look. Of course, quality makeup product, to begin with, is also important. I’ve been using Sigma Beauty products for a few years now and have tried almost everything in their line.

In my honest Sigma brush review, are the brushes and makeup products I think are totally worth the investment (and the ones that missed the mark) so you can shop with confidence!

What Are Sigma Brushes Made Of To Be So Special?

Brushes from Sigma are made with ultra-soft synthetic SigmaTech® and Sigmax® makeup brush fibers. These are antimicrobial, hypoallergenic and are designed to absorb as little of product as possible (so it goes on your skin, not get lost in fibers!)

All of Sigma brushes are also made with patented interlocking technology and come with a warranty. Basically – they are the MVP of the brush world and thus are a favorite for professional makeup artists (but thankfully are available for us normals to use as well!)

E40 Tapered Blending Brush

This is my go-to eye brush as it's a workhorse for blending eyeshadow. It's similar to the F06 powder brush but I find it a bit rounded and easier for the user to blend evenly. I use this brush all the time lightly blend color in on my eyelids. Hooded eye girl here -- I need a good blend!

Sigma F80 Air Flat Kabuki Brush

I love the Kabuki Brush for applying a highlighter over my brow bone. The flat head of this brush helps highlighter get even coverage on my skin so it really POPS.

F47 Multitasker Brush

My go-to foundation brush! This brush is large and uniquely angled making it perfect for applying foundation (and blush, bronzer, etc but I mainly use it for foundation!) It leaves the foundation smooth and even instead of patchy.

E06 Winged Liner Brush

I just struggled HARD with doing a winged eye but it turns out I just wasn't using the right brush. This baby is MAGIC and applies a perfectly sharp cat eye.

E54 Medium Sweeper Brush

This dense, short brush allows for control while applying pigment on lids. I usually always use this before reaching for the E40 to blend it out!

What Is The Best Sigma Brush Sets?

Trying to get started with a brush set (or looking to gift?) So smart! Unless you already know exactly what kind of brushes are your faves, it's nice to start with a set of the best sellers so you can test them out.

Sigma Beauty Essential Brush Set

This Sigma Beauty Brush Set is like, the holy grail of brush sets. It has 12 essential brushes for the face and eyes for $160 (but worth $220 if you buy the brushes separately!) If you need to start at ground zero on brushes, this set has everything you'll ever need.

Disney Cinderella Fairytale Brush Set

Sigma Beauty Cinderella Collection is so fun for Disney fans. Their brush set is an especially good set for gifts, either for the Disney adult in your life or a younger person who is just getting set out on their makeup journey. It comes with 5 brushes in different shapes & sizes but at a lower price point than the Sigma Beauty Essential Kit

SigMagic Brush Shampoo Foam

I honestly don't know what I did before I got my hands on this brush shampoo. It's a foam, so it lats forever, cleans makeup brushes with so much power sometimes it's hard to believe they ever had product on them to begin with. It's a must-have!!

Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat

Paired with the foam, this is cleaning mat works wonders. It has suction cups so it firmly sticks to the bottom of my sink. It has 7 textures to accommodate small to large brushes. So much better than a towel!

Radiance Eyeshadow Base Primer

This primer is a beast at holding pigment all day. It's a little shimmery so sometimes I'll wear it on its own and it stays all day without creases or rubbing off. But, if I do apply color on top I find that color is deep and more radiant. I love this primer!!

Warm Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette

My best color tones are the warm hues, so I find myself reaching for this Warm Hue eyeshadow palette a lot! It has 14 shaded mattes, metallic and shimmery hues so it's easy to create a simple eye, a smokey eye and anything in between. It also comes with a duel end brush so I usually travel with this palette (already got the brush!)

Prime + Control Brow Wax

Sigma really has primers on lockdown. I actually put this primer & control wax to the test one while in San Diego (on a hot day when I was sweating a ton!) The brow with the primer looked just the same as it did that morning in the bathroom. My other brow's pigment had sweated off and looked haywire.

Infinity Point Lipstick in Epiphany

The panny was extra hard for me since I LOVE lipstick and before covering up with a mask would sometimes plan a whole outfit around a lip color. If you have to pick one lipstick from Sigma, this it is. It's creamy and hydrating, so my lips never get too cracked. It lasts a long time and fades evenly when it starts to go.

What Sigma Beauty Or Brushes Aren’t Worth It?

So, what Sigma products didn’t live up to the hype for me? I’ve been using Sigma for years and have had the chance to try out much (but not all) of their line. These are the things I bought that I wouldn’t buy again.

  • Liquid Lipsticks: I’ve tried a few different shades of their Liquid Lipsticks and I’m just not a fan. It dries as a matte and I find it gets really cakey and rubs off on everything.
  • F57 Contour Brush: My main beef with this one is the bristles retain water a really long time after use so it takes forever to dry.
  • F87 Edge Kabuki: I don’t ever have a need for this because I don’t personally wear a face with extreme edges. I prefer blended, natural-looking applications. This is almost too precise.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sigma Beauty

Is It Worth Splurging On Expensive Makeup Brushes Or Are There Cheaper Ones That Work Just As Well?

Are Sigma brushes good? No, they are fantastic. They are one of the best ton the market. It can make sense to invest in a Sigma brush set or bundle instead of individual brushes so you can have a solid foundation of tools to build on. And, the bundles or sets are usually at a slight discount.

Where To Buy Sigma Brushes

Since Sigma is one of the leading beauty brands, you can find them at many places you buy makeup. You can shop directly on the site, or select major realtors if you want easy returns.

  • Directly at Sigma
  • Sigma Beauty Sephora (exclusive cleaning set)
  • Sigma Beauty Amazon
  • Sigma Beauty Macys

How Is Sigma Beauty Customer Service?

Really fast! I had to return an order once and they responded within 24 hours.

Where Does Sigma Beauty Ship From?

Sigma’s HQ is in Minnesota so they ship from (almost) the center of the country. This means they can usually ship to the United States within a few business days. On large orders you can typically get free shipping, too!

Do You Have A Sigma Beauty Discount Code?

Sigma doesn’t have a ton of discount codes out there but you can use THIS LINK with the code HONEY30 for 30$ off.

When Does Sigma Beauty Have Sales?

Usually around major US holidays! Sometimes they have free ship promos, other times they have massive discounts on brush sets. At the time of writing this article, they are giving away a free F80 brush on orders over $40. That’s why it’s beneficial to shop directly at Sigma vs another store (so you can take advance of free brushes!)

What Are The Best Makeup Brushes For Hooded Eyes?

Looking for the best Sigma brushes for hooded eyes? As a gal with hooded guys, it’s SUCH a struggle to wear eye makeup sometimes. As I noted above, the E40 Tapered Blending Brush is a full brush that helps blend, which is what hooded eyes really need!

Is Sigma Beauty Cruelty Free?

Yes!

Is Sigma Beauty Vegan?

Yes! Also Vegan!

So, are Sigma brushes worth it? Totally!

I hope you found these Sigma brushes review helpful. If you have a favorite brush that didn’t make the list, please share it on a comment below so we can all see!
