LIFE HACK: How To Celebrate Other People’s Wins (+ Why It’s Important)

When was the last time you found yourself celebrating OTHER people’s wins?

Like genuinely, truly gave yourself over to be happy for others? It’s a practice that I’ve been adopting for a while now and holy moly – it’s a major life hack to happiness and joy.

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy

I think you’ve heard this quote before but I didn’t fully understand it until recently. I get it – It’s WAY to easy to get weighed down with comparison syndrome.

You can always pick another person and find something to compare yourself to them. Their business goals, their work promotions or salary, their personal relationships, even their style or home. It’s easy to get sucked down into a spiral of negative emotions when you are constantly comparing yourself to the world around you.

Comparison and hate takes more energy than joy and love does.

But when you start celebrating the wins of others, you get to twist that narrative from “I suck at life” to “wow, life has so much joy all around” and TRUST ME – that positive mental state is a much better one to live in. Once I started celebrating the wins of others, I hardly found myself living in negative spaces anymore.

How To Be Happy For Others Success

So how does one be happy for other people – like genuinely happy? It’s easier than you may think.

Next time you see someone share about a milestone they made, a promotion they got, a life goal they reached – take 30 seconds for yourself to feel all the joy they are feeling. Like, really sit there and force yourself to feel the happy things you think they may be feeling.

The joy. The excitement. The love. Let those emotions wash over you for them, with them.

If jealously creeps in, force it out. Remind yourself their success doesn’t reflect on you as a human. It doesn’t make you any less valid or smart or successful in your own way.

Do this for friends, family, co-workers whenever someone shares a piece of success with you. But also do this for strangers. For Instagram friends or even celebrities. You don’t have to know them in real life to be happy for the success of others.

Being happy for others is the key to a happy life.

I’m a firm believer that what you put out into the universe is returned to you tenfold. So start radiating joy, love and celebration and watch how that impacts your life.

Be Happy For Others Success Quotes I Love

And to part with, here’s some of my favorite Be Happy For Others Quotes you may love, too.

“Supporting others success won’t dampen yours”

“One can definitely learn a lot of valuable things from successful people, if one isn’t too busy envying them.”
― Edmond Mbiaka

“Be glad for people when they win; because you have no idea what they’ve been through when they were losing.”
― Jawo

“Promise yourself to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are of your own.” – The Optimist Creed

” Be happy for others, your time will come “

I love the tip of really feeling the joy the person is feeling! I’m going to try that next time! I’m a big believer in celebrating other people’s wins, especially for people you are rooting for (the underdogs), but comparison definitely creeps in from time to time (I journaled about that last night!). Human nature is so weird too – why is it that we compare ourselves to people who have it “better” than us, and not the other way around? I suppose that’s the gratitude piece 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!
