I’m 100% a basic fall betch. The second September first rolls around, I’m whipping out all the fall-tastic things, set plans to visit a nearby pumpkin farm, make bad squash-related puns and get in full pumpkin spiced latte mode.
Every year I always love to put together something cute to wear for a mini fall photo shoot in at the pumpkin farm. And, I figured you probably do, too! I’ve scoured the interest this fall so I could find YOU guys the cutest pumpkin patch outfit ideas available online to shop. Let’s go!
The 15+ Cutest Pumpkin Patch Outfit Ideas For Fall
Most of these images are shot at the pumpkin patches around Half Moon Bay, which is a sleepy little seaside town about 45 minutes South of San Francisco on Hwy 1. They’re world-famous for their pumpkins, specifically the annual pumpkin festival each October. I grew up in Wisconsin, and I miss going to farms each fall with my family… getting lost in the corn mazes, picking out the PERFECT pumpkin for carving, drinking apple cider.
Last year, I wore a ghost shirt that’s actually a part of a Halloween pajama set from Target. But I always break fashion rules and I thought it made a really cute top to pair with my corduroy skirt and boots. I haven’t worn it yet, but I think this bat sweater would be really cute as well.
You don’t have to go with a cliche like a ghost shirt. White sweaters and dresses always make a great pumpkin patch fashion choice. A felt wide brim hat with jeans, boots and a cute blouse will look great in a pumpkin patch as well. The key is to stick out against all the orange and tan. So avoid tan and bright orange colors and you’ll be good!
The key is to also be comfortable. You can’t tell but I am sweating a lot in all of these photos – sweater weather really doesn’t hit Northern California until November. So go with a dress if it’s still hot where you are.

Looking for cute pumpkin patch baby clothes? I don’t have kids but I did some searching for you! Old Navy always has really nice and affordable baby girl and baby boy outfits in tons of sizes to fit babies to toddlers.

How To Take Amazing Pumpkin Patch Photos
Let’s be honest – the main reason to go to pumpkin picking is to snap a ton of cute fall photos! Otherwise you could just pick up some canned pumpkin at the grocery store (though I do love cooking my pumpkins into tasty pie!)
I’ve been to countless pumpkin patches, and, as a fashion blogger I’ve nailed down some tips for taking cute pumpkin patch photos to share with you!
Go In The Evening
There’s one thing that is universal: all pumpkin patches are out in the middle of an open field. If you go at high noon, well, your photos will be bright with tons of harsh shadows. Instead, try to go towards the end of the day. Some farm stay open until Sunset, so head there at golden hour so you can use the soft glowy light to take photos in. This way, your cute pumpkin patch outfits will shine their best!
If you can’t go in the evening, try to be the first people into the patch in the morning instead. Basically, just avoid Noon and the bright afternoon hours.
Get Silly With Pumpkins
Pick them up, hold them in front of your face. Sit on them. Some of my favorite fall photos are when I got super goofy and just engaged with the pumpkins. You are in a patch after all!
Look For Colorful Pumpkins
An orange pumpkin is classic and will always be a classic. But I find all the colorful pumpkins to be really fun for photos. Look for the white and black ones, the latter which feels super spooky for fall. You can also sometimes find green ones which pop really nicely in photos.
Use Your Accessories
Got a hat on? Turn away from the camera to capture what we call “a hat shot” with the pumpkin patch behind you. Wearing cute boots? Hold a pumpkin by your side and take a photo waist-down to show them off. Use your accessories to help you find unique photo opps!
I hope this helps you pick some cute pumpkin picking outfits! Fall is my favorite season (the smells! The scarves! The colors! The Halloween outfits! THE PUMPKINS!), so I love to share chilly weather style trends. Heck, I even dressed up my cat in a pumpkin outfit once, I just love this season.
Finally, some of the pumpkins I brought home are for looks only, but some are grown for baking. That leaves the next question… do I make pie or pumpkin bread?
